Notch Bed Frame
Notch bed frame was a project designed for Normann Copenhagen in 2022 during my internship there, and it was launched at 3daysofdesign Copenhagen 2023.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the Notch Bed Frame is expertly made using 100% solid pine wood planks, showcasing the exceptional beauty and durability of the natural material. Inspired by the traditional notching technique, where one plank is inserted into another to form the joints of the furniture piece, the bed frame achieves both structural integrity and stunning decorative details at the corners. This unique joining method constitutes the main characteristic of the design, a decorative detail that distinguishes the design, making it stand out from other wooden bed frames. Notch Bed Frame’s clean lines and natural finish exude an air of simplicity and elegance, allowing it to harmonize effortlessly with existing decor.
The allure of the Notch Bed Frame extends far beyond its initial impression. Over time, the durable and welcoming appeal of the pine wood will develop a stunning patina, further enhancing its natural charm. To prevent excessive discoloration and to ensure additional durability, each plank is carefully lacquered with a clear, matte UV varnish, providing protection from the sun's rays while preserving the wood's innate beauty.
Notch床架，是2022年实习期间我为Normann Copenhagen设计的一个产品，它在2023年哥本哈根3daysofdesign上线。
抛弃一切冗余，我们把重心放在使用和材料本身，用几何形体搭建轮廓，用原始的形式呈现设计。床架的结构，实际来源于中国传统的一种榫卯连接方式，这在许多老旧的中式木床上可以看见。在这里，来自东方的结构美学与来自北欧的风格理念有了碰撞。
